General Roof Health Checks in Preston

Not sure what's going on up there after a storm? We'll get up, take a proper look, and send you photos of anything we find — so you know where you stand, with no pressure to book any work.

Working in Preston

We've completed roofing projects in Preston. It's about 28 miles from our base in Colne, so it isn't somewhere we'd come out to for a small one-off job — but for larger or planned roof health checks, we'd be glad to talk it through.

If it's a small day-to-day repair you need in Preston, you'll be better off with someone on your own doorstep, and we'll say so rather than waste your time.

Why a regular check is worth it

You can't see your own roof. Most problems — a slipped tile, a hairline crack in the flashing, moss starting to lift the edges — sit out of sight until the first damp patch shows on a ceiling, by which point the cheap fix has quietly become an expensive one.

A quick look once a year, and after any bad storm, catches the small stuff while it is still small. That is the whole point of a health check: not to sell you a roof, but to tell you honestly whether you need anything doing at all.

What a health check covers

We look over the parts of a roof that actually cause trouble, and photograph whatever we find.

  • Tiles & slates

We look for slipped, cracked or missing tiles and slates, and anything sitting out of line that the next bit of wind could take with it.

  • Flashing & chimney

The lead around the chimney and in the valleys is where a lot of leaks start. We check it's sound and properly bedded in, and photograph anything lifted or cracked.

  • Gutters & fixings

Blocked, sagging or leaking gutters, and the brackets holding everything up. Small things that turn into damp on the wall if they're left too long.

Photos first, honest answer second

Every check ends the same way: photos of anything we found, sent to your phone, and a plain-English answer on what — if anything — needs doing. You can't see the top of your own roof, so we make sure you can see exactly what we're talking about.

If your roof is sound, we'll say so and you've lost nothing. If it needs a small repair, you'll have the photos to decide in your own time. Either way there's no pressure and no minimum job.

  • Photos of everything we find, sent to your phone.
  • A straight answer — including “it's fine, leave it”.
  • No pressure, no minimum job, no hard sell.

Common questions

What does a roof health check involve?

We access the roof safely, look over the tiles, flashing, chimney and gutters, and photograph anything that needs attention. Then we talk you through what we found and what, if anything, is worth doing. It's a check, not a sales visit.

How often should I have my roof checked?

Once a year is plenty for most homes, ideally in autumn before the wet weather sets in. It's also worth a look after any bad storm — high winds are what move tiles and lift flashing in the first place.

What happens if you find something wrong?

We'll show you photos of it and give you an honest view on how urgent it is. Some things need sorting quickly; plenty can wait. We won't talk you into work you don't need — most of what we find turns out to be a small, targeted repair rather than a new roof.

Do I have to book repairs if you find a problem?

No. The check stands on its own. You keep the photos and decide in your own time, whether that's with us or with anyone else.
