Chimney & Flashing Repairs in Preston

Small chimney defects can cause repeat leaks. We diagnose and repair them quickly, before water damage spreads.

Working in Preston

We've completed roofing projects in Preston. It's about 28 miles from our base in Colne, so it isn't somewhere we'd come out to for a small one-off job — but for larger or planned chimney and flashing repairs, we'd be glad to talk it through.

If it's a small day-to-day repair you need in Preston, you'll be better off with someone on your own doorstep, and we'll say so rather than waste your time.

Small but costly problems

Loose mortar, cracked flashing, and damaged chimney pots can all lead to hidden roof leaks. We focus on targeted repairs that stabilise your chimney without unnecessary larger works.

Every repair starts with clear photos and straightforward advice, so you can approve only the work you actually need.

What we repair

The three faults behind most chimney leaks, and what we do about each.

  • Lead flashing faults

Leaking or lifted flashing around the stack base, where the chimney meets the roof. We reseal, re-point or replace the lead to restore the watertight joint.

  • Mortar joint failure

Cracked pointing and open joints on exposed stacks. Weather gets into the mortar first and the leak follows, so we re-point the affected joints before it reaches the roof space.

  • Loose chimney pots

Reset and secured to reduce weather risk. A pot working loose at the top of a stack is a hazard as much as a leak.

Approve only the work you need

A chimney is the easiest place on a roof to be sold a rebuild you don't need. We would rather show you the fault and let you decide.

  • Clear photos of what we found, before any work starts.
  • Straightforward advice on what it actually needs.
  • Targeted repairs, not unnecessary larger works.

Common questions

Does my chimney need rebuilding?

Usually not. Most of the chimney leaks we see come down to failed pointing, lifted lead flashing at the base of the stack, or a loose pot — all of which are targeted repairs. We will send you photos of what we find and tell you honestly what it needs.

Water is coming in near the chimney. Is the chimney at fault?

Often, but not always — the lead flashing where the stack meets the roof is a more common culprit than the brickwork itself, and water can travel some distance before it shows inside. We trace it back to the actual entry point rather than guessing.

Can you send photos of what you find?

Yes, that's how every job starts. You can't see the top of your own stack from the ground, so we photograph the fault and talk you through it before anything is agreed.
